Using templates reduces Sage input requirements to ONLY four inputs! A template is a feature that allows the user to define sets of characteristics that are typical for unique product types and development environments. Use of these templates eliminates the need to specify individually all 31 technology parameters for each cost estimate. The Sage templates are non-overlapping "knowledge bases" that independently specify development organization and product characteristics. Traditional knowledge base parameter sets overlap and cause multiple knowledge bases to overwrite previously loaded bases. A management template defines a software development environment including management character or style, personnel capability and experience, development environment methods, tools and facilities, and physical facilities. Management templates can be created to represent generic environments, corporation profiles, development organization profiles, or environments associated with individual project managers. A product template defines the software product attributes and characteristics normally associated with software developments of this product type. For example, memory and performance constraints, and user interface requirements are typical product attributes. Software development standards such as required reliability are also included in this type of template. Templates (after downloading) must be copied into the Sage folder. After the templates are copied into the Sage folder, the template linkages must be re-established by the Relink program contained in the Sage folder. This web page is updated as management and product templates are developed by SEI or submitted by Sage users. Templates are screened for validity and liability before posting. The following templates can be downloaded by selecting (clicking) the template name:
